Dangers of Hot Chips or Fries



DANGERS OF HOT CHIPS OR FRIES! 
McDonald’s and most all other fast food restaurants use MSG to help sell their foods. MSG is used because it is inexpensive and generally makes food taste particularly good. Countless research shows that MSG is now a known neurotoxin, known as flavour enhancer 621.
Most of us are aware that potatoes do not rank as a healthy vegetable option, as their simple sugars are rapidly converted to glucose which raises our insulin levels and when eaten repeatedly may impact our health. Especially when they are cooked in fat at high temperatures and chemical reactions occur which can be harmful to our health.
Anything that is fried, even vegetables, has the potential issue of trans fat (please see Avoiding Trans fats blog) and the potent cancer-causing substance acrylamide. Foods that are fried in vegetable oils like canola, soybean, safflower, corn, and other seed and nut oils are particularly problematic.
These polyunsaturated fats easily become rancid when exposed to oxygen and can produce large amounts of damaging free radicals in our body. They are also very susceptible to heat-induced damage from cooking.
MOST HOT CHIPS ARE ALSO ROLLED IN FLOUR;

Not only do French fries contain trans fat but McDonald’s has finally admitted that wheat and dairy ingredients are also used to flavour the popular menu item.
Until recently, McDonald’s had claimed that its fries were free of these substances, which can cause allergic reactions or other medical problems for some.
Lying About Fries – the Health Consequence:
McDonald’s actions have caused anger and concern among patrons on gluten-free diets. Million of people suffer from coeliac disease, an autoimmune disorder triggered by wheat gluten.
This is not the first time McDonald’s has been shown to be less than honest about its ingredients list. In 2002, the company paid $10 million for a lawsuit when it was revealed that its fries, which McDonald’s had claimed were cooked in pure vegetable oil, actually used an oil containing beef flavoring.
Last February, McDonald’s paid $8.5 million in a similar lawsuit after the company indefinitely delayed its promise to switch to a healthier cooking oil.
I can’t imagine that McDonald’s are the only fast food chains to utilise all three of these ingredients.
So if you have concerns about trans fats or if your family have gluten or dairy sensitivites, then certainly think twice before purchasing hot chips. Keep them to a minimium!

Shame on McDonalds for Enticing Kids with Happy Meal Toys


McDonalds is under the spotlight for Happy Meal toys. One advocacy group is saying that they are not playing fair.

Every parent wants their kids to eat healthy. But I know personally that kids are being pulled in every direction to eating junk foods. So do you think that McDonalds is enticing kids with their toy giveaways in Happy Meals.

Genetically Modified Salmon May be on it's way


By 2012 we may be eating genetically modified farmed salmon. GM salmon looks like it be getting approval. Don't expect GM salmon to be labeled, nothing else that is GM'ed is labeled.

Any of These Three Things Will Destroy Nutritional Value of Chocolate

Justin and I talk chocolate, healthy chocolate that is. Chocolate is regarded as a superfood, packed with intense antioxidants. But most of the chocolate available are breaking one or more of the rules for keeping healthy. Please be aware that dark chocolate is not as healthy as you think it is.
